PADI Divemaster Course

The only way is up baby! Well, this is pretty damn high. The PADI Divemaster Course your very first step on the professional ladder.

Time to be a Professional – For many the final goal in their scuba diving career or passion is becoming a PADI Divemaster. This is a role of great importance and many people will look up to you for guidance and leadership. At S’Algar Diving Menorca, we have taught many PADI Divemasters over the years. Some choose to join us for 6 months and do the Inhouse Divemaster Internship, others come already prepared as Rescue Divers to do only the Divemaster Course in as little time as possible. Whichever is your preferred option, be prepared for a great time with us at Salgar Diving Menorca. We take this course very seriously, and so should you.

If you are interested in our 6 months (May-October) Divemaster In-house Internship, send us your CV and we´ll be in touch. The following information relates to the ¨normal¨ Divemaster Course, not the Internship.

Stand out and be counted | PADI Divemaster Course in Menorca

The Divemaster Course will take a minimum of 3 weeks and will be tough going. There is a fair bit of theory to master and you are required to do most of the studying prior to coming out to do the practical part of the course. Mainly, because you will be too tired to do any serious studying in the evenings, after having spent most of the day with us at the dive centre. If you prefer, you have the option to do your Divemaster Theory online, leaving you with more time to enjoy after a hard day ¨at work¨.

How’s my PADI Divemaster day looking?

Each day will be different. On some days, you will come in and only do a few hours, on some days, you will stay the day and ¨work´ alongside our Instructors. You will be advised of the schedule for any given day the day before, so you can plan to sleep in (if you´re lucky) on some mornings or go to the beach (even luckier) on some afternoons. A normal day starts well before the guests arrive and finishes after everybody else has left. So starting at 08:00 till 18:00 could be a typical, quiet day. Times and general structure of the course vary significantly depending on the month of the year.

So, Can I do it?

  • You need to hold a PADI Rescue Diver Certification or similar.
  • You will need to be 18 years of age on the first day of course.
  • Have at least 3 weeks at your disposal. Local divers who live in Menorca can split the course into time frames to suit other everyday commitments.
  • You will also need a First Aid Certificate that is either less than 2 years old or has been renewed in the last 2 years. We recommend the PADI Emergency First Responder Primary and Secondary Care with CPR Course.
  • Min. 40 Logged dives (please have more…) with a good cross-section of dives including those at depth, night dives, and boat diving.
  • Able to swim at a good pace – 400 Metres in under 6.5 minutes
  • Dive Computer, Mask, Snorkel, Fins, SMB, Torch, Knife, Slate, Pocket mask………….Well, basically – the lot.  You want to be a Divemaster after all. We´ll help you to choose the right equipment for you if you need to stock up on materials. Nothing more frustrating than buying something, only to find out that it is not very useful for the purpose.
  • Your own dive gear would be nice (Regs, BCD and a 5 – 7 mm semidry or wetsuit). This is not essential, you can rent this equipment if need be.
  • In Spain, a medical certificate is required for certified divers wishing to dive or for students embarking on any scuba diving course that leads to a certification. You will need to have a letter or certificate endorsed by a doctor saying you are fit to dive. Information and a typical blank form can be downloaded here – Medical Certificate | Good to know
